“PepsiCo [will] invest $190 million in northern Central America through 2025, including improvements to its manufacturing plants in the region … Cargill, a global food corporation, would invest an additional $150 million in the region with the aim of improving ‘farmer livelihoods and building economic resilience’ in Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.” WaPo: VP Harris announces private-sector investments as she seeks to address migration from Central America. (Interesting photo choice given that it’s a positive story.) It will be interesting to see if the US can stem the tide of northern migration by making conditions better in Central America.
