Love, Honor and Overshare

A groom from Maryland took time out during his own wedding to announce via Twitter and Facebook that he was officially married. His performance (while clearly intended to get some laughs) is all the more disturbing because you have to figure that anyone who really cared about that data was in the room watching the ceremony. One can only guess how many multitaskers in crowd read the message as they experienced the event.

I’m not sure if this is the ultimate sign of the oversharing apocalypse or a glimmer of hope that new technologies will save a moribund institution.

(That last part was my shrink’s take.)
